Lines Intertwined — original archival ink drawing by Shanna Lindinger, South African ink artist, 2025

Lines Intertwined

2025

Archival ink and watercolour on paper

16 1/2 × 11 7/10 in | 41.9 × 29.7 cm

There's something deeply cathartic about letting your pen go — finding its own organic flow. Lines Intertwined emerged intuitively, the forms expanding and folding into one another like something seen under a microscope or remembered from a landscape. Organic, pressured, alive. Themes of growth, transformation, and interconnectedness weave through the composition — the dense internal line work of each form creating movement and tension against the deep, active darkness surrounding it.

The interplay of positive and negative space here is not decorative but structural — the black as essential as the white, each giving the other weight and meaning. Created in archival ink and watercolour on paper, this is one of a small number of works in which both mediums are present — the watercolour lending depth and atmosphere to the ink's precise, intuitive line. I hope it brings a sense of calm and serenity to your living or working space. Something of a contemplative companion to your morning coffee.
