SHANNA LINDINGER — INK ARTIST, WANDERER, AND NOTICER OF THE WILD AND WONDERFUL
new beginnings rooted in monochrome
At 42, I found myself starting over in a way I never expected. Moving from writing to ink drawings, I began creating originals and limited prints that embrace texture, pattern, and quiet reflection—made for people who notice the little things and crave meaning in their surroundings.
Selected works have been exhibited at Site:Brooklyn Gallery, New York (2025–26) and recognised in the Biafarin Awards 2025.

The Story
See, for years, I believed I’d make my mark through words. Writing was my compass, my way to find clarity and connection. But life took me down unexpected paths—detours that eventually felt like losing my way.
In May of '25, when my corporate job ended, I thought my writer’s story would begin. Instead, I found myself holding a simple desk pad my mother gave me—and falling into the quiet magic of ink on paper. Not writing but drawings. Doodles turned into lines. Lines turned into patterns, marks became textures, and something, something laid long-dormant stirred to life.
I’ve always been curious, drawn (excuse the pun) to the "why" of it all, juxtaposition, the spaces in-between—the rush of the city and the stillness of the veld which played a huge part in my formative years, the tension between ambition and contentment, movement and pause. These contrasts live in my work, a quiet celebration of sight, of sound, of noticing: the forest’s whisper, the curve of a cloud, the sidewalk wildflower, early morning air, the hopes beyond that gravel road winding along the horizon.
I've found my purpose in ink.

The work
My originals are hand-inked on high-quality acid-free archival paper — a surface that carries the marks and memories. Prints of my original works are produced on 100% cotton, museum-grade Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm — archival, acid-free, with a fade resistance of over 100 years. Soon, my love for texture will weave into textiles — collaborations with local South African weavers, creating limited edition pieces that carry the same hand and intention as the ink work.
I've come to see practice isn’t about perfection. It’s about being present. And I feel like this is the greatest gift this work has given me. Because meaning doesn’t just happen; it’s made, created through one careful stroke of the pen at a time. This studio is my restart, a new beginning in ink and intention. And through the pieces I create, I hope you find your own stories in the lines.
Original works and limited edition archival prints are available in the Shop. Commission enquiries are welcome — start a conversation via the Commission page.
If you’ve found yourself here, maybe you’re like me—someone who cares about more than just pretty pictures. You’re curious, you want meaning, connection, and maybe even a little magic in the everyday. So, I’m glad you’re here.
